What Is The Ohio Latino Scholarship Network?


The Ohio Latino Scholarship Network is part of the Commission's education initiative to encourage and facilitate collaboration among Ohio's Latino scholarship programs.
One component of the Network is the Scholarship Resource Center.

The Resource Center will provide scholarship and application information, as well as tips for applying for scholarships. The Ohio Latino Affairs Commission is not endorsing any particular scholarship program and does not claim to present an exhaustive list. Resources will be continually added as we are made aware of opportunities.

Undergraduate scholarships that don't require proof of U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency:

University and College Scholarships

  • The best place to begin your scholarship search is with your school.
  • Ask your admissions counselors about any possible scholarships offered through your university or college.
  • University alumni, donors, student organizations, and majors set up generous scholarships for students.
  • Make sure you fill out a FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid - form.
  • FAFSA will notify your school on the level of aid you will need.  
  • Your school may also have Perkins grants available. It is a loan with generous repayment periods and low interest rates.

National Scholarships

  • The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships scholarship for New Americans - Each Fellowship supports one to two years of graduate study in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program in the United States. Each award is for up to $25,000 in stipend support, as well as 50 percent of required tuition and fees, up to $20,000 per year, for one to two years. The first year of Fellowship funding cannot be deferred.
     
  • Altec Design Web Scholarship - This opportunity is open to students pursuing any major at an accredited institution. The winner will be awarded $750 to pursue their education. Please apply by 7/15 each by filling out an application form on their website.
     
  • Breakthrough Junior Challenge - Create a short (under three minutes) video explaining a challenging concept in physics, mathematics, or the life sciences in an engaging, illuminating, and creative way. If you win, you’ll receive the college scholarship, your teacher will receive a $50,000 prize, and your school will get a new $100,000 science lab.
     
  • U.S. Bank Scholarship - US Bank Student Scholarship. Enter for a chance to win $20,000 plus other opportunities. No essay or transcripts required.
     
  • Scholarships & Financial Aid for Minority Students - A List of aviable scholarships and financial aid for minority students, also resources to help minority students look for and land scholarships.
     
  • NBCUniversal/LNESC National Scholarship - The NBCUniversal/LNESC Scholarship Program will award ten (10) $5,000 national scholarships to qualified rising sophomores and juniors. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university; at least 18 years of age or older; have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale; be a U. S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident; and have an interest in the media and entertainment industry; all majors are welcome.
     
  • Mattress Help Scholarship Program - $1,000 awarded to the student who creates a video application that answers the two questions: How important is sleep as a public health issue, and Describe your current relationship with sleep and assess the quality of that relationship.
     
  • Sullivan Solar Power's A Sustainable Future Through Solar Energy Scholarship - $2,000 will be awarded twice a year to high school seniors or current college students, who have at least one parent or grandparent who is an immigrant to the United States and who has plans to use their college education to help create a sustainable future.
     
  • The Gates Scholarship - A highly selective, full scholarship for exceptional, Pell-eligible, minority, high school seniors. The scholarship will be awarded to 300 top student leaders each year with the intent of promoting their academic excellence through college graduation, and providing them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
     
  • Northern Kentucky University (NKU) and the Mexican Consulate of Indianapolis Scholarship Agreement - Will provide $1,000 scholarships to 20 students: 10 continuing NKU students, and 10 incoming high school seniors who are Mexican or of Mexican origin and who enroll at NKU in the fall of 2017.
     
  • 40 Scholarships and Grants for Hispanic and Latino Students - List of available grants and scholarships for Hispanic and Latino Students
  • AXA Achievement Scholarship - Students have the opportunity to receive a $2,500, $10,000 or $25,000 scholarship. In addition, for every student who wins a scholarship, a grant in the amount of $1,000 will be made to the winner’s school.
